How Rankings Are Calculated
We use a modified Elo rating system that accounts for opponent strength and match format. All players start at 1200 rating and adjust after each match based on expected vs. actual results. Higher-rated opponents yield more points when defeated, while losses against lower-rated players result in larger rating drops.
The system uses dynamic K-factors: new players (under 20 games) have accelerated rating changes to quickly find their skill level, while veteran players have more stable ratings. Sweeping your opponent 2-0 in best-of-3 matches grants bonus rating points for dominant performance.
Seasonal rankings reset at the start of each competitive season, giving all players a fresh chance to prove themselves. Your global rating persists across seasons, building your all-time competitive legacy within the Goat World community.
