What is Edison Format?
Edison Format recreates the competitive Yu-Gi-Oh! environment surrounding the Shonen Jump Championship in Edison, New Jersey (March 27–28, 2010) — an event widely regarded as one of the most skill-intensive and diverse tournaments in the game’s history. The format uses the official March 1, 2010 Forbidden & Limited list and a frozen card pool, which means the metagame never rotates: the deck you master today stays legal forever.
Where Goat Format (April 2005) is a slow, grindy battle of resources, Edison is the golden age of early Synchro Summoning: Tuners, Extra Deck toolboxes, and tempo-driven games where over a dozen strategies are genuinely competitive. The SJC Edison top cut alone featured Lightsworn, Blackwing, Gladiator Beast, Frog Monarch, Hero Beat, and Machina Gadget — a level of diversity modern Yu-Gi-Oh! rarely achieves.
