Tournament Deck Submission Guide
Check Tournament Details
Review the tournament announcement for deck submission deadline, format rules, and any special restrictions. Some tournaments may have unique requirements (e.g., no Chaos, specific banlist variations).
Prepare Your Deck
Build and test your deck in EDOPro or Dueling Book. Ensure it's legal for Goat Format and complies with tournament-specific rules.
- โข Main Deck: 40-60 cards
- โข Extra Deck: 0-15 cards (usually 0 in Goat)
- โข Side Deck: 0-15 cards
Export as YDKE
Export your deck as a YDKE URL from your deck builder. Copy the entire URL including the ydke:// prefix.
Register with Bot Command
Use the tournament registration command in Discord:
/tournament_join [deck]The bot will show you available tournaments to select from. For the deck parameter, you can use a saved deck name like "Goat Control" or paste a YDKE URL directly.
Verify Submission
The bot will confirm your registration and show your deck preview. Check that all card counts are correct and your deck is valid for the tournament.
You're Registered!
Your deck is now locked in for the tournament. You cannot change it after the registration deadline unless tournament rules allow deck edits.
Deck Verification & Legality
Automatic Verification
When you submit a deck, the bot automatically checks:
- โข Card Pool: All cards are legal for Goat Format (April 2005 or earlier)
- โข Banlist Compliance: Respects forbidden/limited/semi-limited cards
- โข Deck Size: Main Deck has 40-60 cards
- โข Side Deck: Side Deck has 0-15 cards (if applicable)
- โข Valid Format: YDKE URL is properly formatted and readable
Common Rejection Reasons
Your deck submission may be rejected if:
- โข Contains cards released after April 2005
- โข Includes forbidden cards (e.g., more than 1 Pot of Greed)
- โข Main Deck has less than 40 or more than 60 cards
- โข YDKE format is corrupted or incomplete
- โข Contains cards not legal in the tournament's specific ruleset
Manual Review Cases
Some submissions may require manual review by administrators, such as:
- โข Controversial card rulings or legality questions
- โข New tournament-specific restrictions
- โข Edge cases not covered by automatic checks
Updating Your Submitted Deck
Tournament Decks
Before Deadline: You can update your deck by re-submitting with the registration command. Your old deck will be replaced.
After Deadline: Deck changes are locked. Contact tournament admins if you have an emergency (e.g., discovered illegal card).
Ladder Deck
Anytime Updates: Change your ladder deck whenever you want using/join [new_deck].
Rating Impact: Your rating is tied to your account, not your deck, so feel free to experiment with different builds.
Challenge Decks
No Submission Required: Challenge matches don't use the deck submission system. Players agree on match details privately.
Flexible: Each challenge can use any deck you wantโno registration or bot commands needed.
Sit & Go Decks
Locked at Entry: Your deck is locked when you join the queue. You cannot change it once the tournament starts.
New Entry = New Deck: Each SNG entry can use a different deckโno restrictions on switching between events.
Submission Best Practices
๐กPro Tips for Smooth Submissions
โ Test Before Submitting: Always test your deck in EDOPro or Dueling Book before submitting. Catch any illegal cards or mistakes early.
โ Keep Backups: Save your YDKE codes in a text file or notes app. If something goes wrong, you can quickly re-submit.
โ Submit Early: Don't wait until the last minute for tournament registration. Technical issues can happenโgive yourself time to fix problems.
โ Double-Check Counts: Verify your main deck has 40+ cards, your side deck doesn't exceed 15, and all card counts are correct.
โ
Use Saved Decks: Save frequently-used decks with/deck save to make future submissions faster and easier.
โ Confirm Submission: After submitting, review the bot's confirmation message to ensure your deck was registered correctly.
Troubleshooting Submission Issues
My YDKE code won't load
Make sure you copied the entire URL including ydke://. Try regenerating the code from your deck builder. If issues persist, contact support with a screenshot of your deck list.
Bot says my deck is illegal but I think it's correct
Check the Goat Format card pool (April 2005 and earlier) and banlist. Common mistakes include using cards released in later sets or exceeding limited/semi-limited counts. Contact an admin if you believe the bot is incorrect.
I submitted the wrong deck by accident
Before deadline: Just re-submit with the correct deckโit will replace your old submission. After deadline: Contact tournament admins immediately. They may allow a one-time deck swap depending on circumstances.
Can I see my submitted deck later?
Yes! For saved decks, use /deck view [deck_name]. For tournament decks, you can check your registration status with tournament-specific commands or contact admins.
What if I discover an illegal card after submission?
Contact tournament admins immediately. They will review your situation and may allow you to fix the deck or replace the illegal card. Honesty is always the best policyโ catching it yourself is better than having it discovered during a match.
