Strategy Tips

⚔️
Prepare for the Meta:

Goats War attracts the best players, so expect refined decklists and tight play. Study recent tournament results and prepare a well-tuned sideboard.

Manage Your Time:

With 48 hours per round, you have flexibility—but don't procrastinate! Coordinate early with opponents and complete matches promptly to avoid stress.

📊
Track the Meta:

As Swiss progresses, you'll face different archetypes. Adjust your sideboard between rounds if you notice trends (e.g., heavy Chaos or Warrior decks).

🎯
Aim for Top 8:

Even if you drop a match or two, you can still make Top 8 in Swiss. Stay focused and play out every round—prize support goes deep!

Frequently Asked Questions

How many rounds of Swiss?

Goats War uses 5-7 Swiss rounds depending on the number of participants. More players = more rounds to determine fair Top 8 seeding.

Can I drop from the tournament?

Yes, you can drop at any time. However, drops forfeit prize eligibility and you won't receive a refund. We recommend playing out all Swiss rounds—even at 0-3, you can still earn GWCoins and valuable experience!

What happens if I miss a round deadline?

We understand life happens! If you have a valid reason for a delay, we're happy to grant time extensions—just communicate with the judges. Match losses are only given when players show no interest in completing their match or disrespect their opponents by being repeatedly unavailable without notice.

Are decklists public?

Decklists are kept private throughout the entire tournament (closed decklists), including Swiss and Top 8 playoffs. Top 8 decklists are published after the tournament concludes so the community can study the winning strategies.

Can I pay with GWCoins?

Yes! If you have enough GWCoins from previous events, you can use them to cover part or all of the buy-in. Check with admins for the current GWC-to-USD exchange rate.
