Playing by the Rules
Fair competition requires clear, consistent rules. All Goat World tournaments follow these guidelines to ensure a level playing field, respectful environment, and smooth event operation.
By registering for a tournament, you agree to abide by these rules. Violations may result in warnings, match losses, or disqualification depending on severity.
🎮Match Format & Structure
Best-of-Three (Bo3) Standard
All tournament matches are Best-of-Three (Bo3) with siding. The first player to win 2 games wins the match.
- Game 1: Random player goes first (determined by dice roll or RPS)
- Game 2: Loser of Game 1 chooses who goes first
- Game 3 (if needed): Loser of Game 2 chooses who goes first
Time Limits
Single-Day Tournaments:
Players have 50 minutes to complete each match (all 2-3 games). If time expires mid-game:
- Current game continues until a natural conclusion (win/loss/draw)
- If match is tied 1-1 after time, both players receive a match draw
- Intentional slow play is penalized (see Conduct section)
Multi-Day Swiss Tournaments (48hrs per round):
No time limit per match—players have the full 48-hour window to complete and report their match. As long as you play within the round deadline, you can take as much time as needed per game.
Platform & Settings
- Deck building: Use any tool you prefer (Yu-Gi-Oh! Omega, EDOPro, spreadsheets, etc.)
- Match platform: All matches are played on DuelingBook.com
- Banlist: April 2005 Goat Format (enforced manually on DuelingBook)
- Match mode: Ranked or unranked (specified in tournament rules)
- Replays: Save all game replays for dispute resolution
Technical issues: If platform crashes or disconnects occur, contact a tournament organizer immediately. Do not restart games without permission—save replays of the interrupted game for ruling.
📝Match Reporting
After each match, the losing player must report results promptly using the bot command and attach the DuelingBook replay link.
Reporting Procedure
- Loser reports: The losing player uses the tournament report bot command (check tournament instructions for the specific command)
- Include game scores: Report the match result (e.g., "0-2" or "1-2")
- MANDATORY: Attach DuelingBook replay link: Copy the replay URL from DuelingBook and paste it in the required field. This is not optional—matches without replays may not be counted.
- Winner confirms (optional): Winner can verify the report if needed
⚠️ Important: Replay Requirement
Every match report MUST include the DuelingBook replay link. This is critical for:
- Dispute resolution and verification
- Tournament coverage and analysis
- Deck check enforcement
- Ensuring fair play and rule compliance
Reports without replay links may be rejected, requiring you to resubmit with the proper link.
Reporting Deadlines
Results must be reported within 10 minutes of match completion. Delays hold up the entire tournament and may result in penalties.
- First offense: Warning
- Repeated delays: Match loss or disqualification
- No-show: Automatic match loss after 10-minute grace period
Result Disputes
If players disagree on match results:
- Do not report conflicting results—notify a tournament organizer immediately
- Provide replay files or screenshots as evidence
- Organizer reviews evidence and makes final ruling
- Organizer decisions are final and not subject to appeal
Pro tip: Save the DuelingBook replay link immediately after each game. Keep it in a text file or Discord DM to yourself so you don't lose it when reporting. after each game. This prevents disputes and helps organizers resolve issues quickly.
