Visual Skill Tiers
Your rating determines your rank badgeโa visual indicator of your skill level displayed on your profile, in leaderboards, and during matches. As your rating grows, you progress through 8 distinct tiers, each with its own unique badge.
Ranks are based on your global rating and update instantly as your rating changes. There are no additional requirementsโjust reach the rating threshold to unlock the next tier.

๐Rank Tiers Explained

KS (Kid Saiyan)
Rating: <1250
Starting tier. All players begin here at 1200 rating. Focus on learning matchups, deck building, and fundamental Goat Format strategy. Most players climb out of KS within their first 20-30 matches.

AS (Adult Saiyan)
Rating: 1250โ1300
First promotion. You've shown basic competency in Goat Format. Continue refining your plays, learning from losses, and adapting to common archetypes. This narrow band is a stepping stone to broader skill tiers.

SS (Super Saiyan)
Rating: 1301โ1400
Competent player. You understand most matchups, make consistent plays, and rarely make critical errors. This tier represents solid, above-average skill. Many casual competitive players settle here.

SS2 (Super Saiyan 2)
Rating: 1401โ1500
Strong player. You're winning more than you lose against average opponents. Deckbuilding choices are deliberate, and you adapt well mid-match. Expect tougher competition as you climb.

SS3 (Super Saiyan 3)
Rating: 1501โ1600
Advanced player. Deep format knowledge, precise sequencing, and metagame awareness define this tier. You regularly perform well in tournaments and can coach newer players effectively.

SSG (Super Saiyan God)
Rating: 1601โ1700
Elite tier. You're consistently crushing high-level competition. Tournament top cuts are common, and you might be recognized in the community. Only a small percentage of players reach SSG.

SSGB (Super Saiyan God Blue)
Rating: 1701โ1800
Top-tier mastery. You're among the best in the world. Near-perfect play, innovative strategies, and tournament wins characterize this level. Very few players maintain SSGB consistently.

SSUI (Super Saiyan Ultra Instinct)
Rating: 1801+
Legendary status. Reserved for the absolute best Goat Format players. Reaching and maintaining 1800+ rating requires sustained excellence against top competition. This is the pinnacle of achievement.
๐Progression Path & Tips
Climbing the Ranks
Your journey from KS to SSUI is a marathon, not a sprint. Here's what to expect at each stage:
- KS โ AS (1200 โ 1250): ~8-12 wins, focus on fundamentals
- AS โ SS (1250 โ 1301): ~10-15 wins, learn matchups deeply
- SS โ SS2 (1301 โ 1401): ~15-25 wins, refine deckbuilding
- SS2 โ SS3 (1401 โ 1501): ~20-30 wins, master sequencing
- SS3 โ SSG (1501 โ 1601): ~25-40 wins, innovate strategies
- SSG โ SSGB (1601 โ 1701): ~30-50 wins, near-perfect play
- SSGB โ SSUI (1701 โ 1801): ~40-60 wins, elite consistency
Win estimates assume ~55% win rate against equal opponents. Higher win rates climb faster!
General Tips for Climbing
- Play more matchesโrating stabilizes over time (provisional K=40 for first 20 games)
- Review losses to identify patterns and mistakes
- Study high-level replays and tournament matches
- Experiment with different archetypes to understand their weaknesses
- Join the community Discord to discuss strategy and get feedback
- Track your progressโsmall improvements compound over weeks
Rating Plateaus Are Normal
Most players experience plateaus where rating stagnates for 20-50 games:
- Common at: ~1350 (SS mid-tier), ~1500 (SS2/SS3 boundary), ~1650 (SSG entry)
- Why it happens: You're matched against equally-skilled opponents (50% win rate)
- How to break through: Study specific weaknesses, optimize deckbuilding, practice consistency
- Be patient: Breaking a plateau can take weeks of dedicated improvement
Remember: Rank badges are earned through consistent performance, not lucky streaks. Focus on improving your play, and the ratings will follow naturally.
๐Player Distribution Across Ranks
Not all ranks are equally populated. Here's a rough estimate of how players distribute across the rank tiers (varies by season):
Note: These percentages are rough estimates based on typical Elo distributions. Actual percentages fluctuate as the player base grows and seasons progress.

How Ranks Are Calculated
Your rank badge is determined by your global rating using a simple lookup function:
if (rating < 1250) return 'KS';
if (rating < 1301) return 'AS';
if (rating < 1401) return 'SS';
if (rating < 1501) return 'SS2';
if (rating < 1601) return 'SS3';
if (rating < 1701) return 'SSG';
if (rating < 1801) return 'SSGB';
return 'SSUI';
Badge Display Locations
- Your player profile page
- Global and seasonal leaderboards (next to your name)
- Match history and tournament brackets
- Discord bot commands (e.g.,
/profile)
Rank vs Rating vs Leaderboard Position
These three concepts are related but distinct:
- Rating: Your numerical Elo score (e.g., 1543)
- Rank: Your badge tier based on rating (e.g., SS3)
- Leaderboard position: Your numerical placement (e.g., #47 globally)
Example: You can be SS3 (1543 rating) and ranked #120 globally. Another player might be SS3 (1589 rating) and ranked #80. Same rank badge, different ratings and leaderboard positions.
